Introduction to Monad Testnet
Monad is a Layer 1 blockchain that utilizes the Proof of Stake consensus mechanism and offers high compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine. Notably, Monad implements Parallel Execution technology, allowing the network to process up to 10,000 transactions per second.
The Monad project was founded in April 2022 by Keone Hon, former Head of Research at Jump Trading and an MIT graduate. Accompanying him is James Hunsaker, Monad’s CTO, a senior software engineer at Jump Trading and a core contributor to Pyth Network.
Monad has successfully raised a total of $244 million through multiple funding rounds from leading investment funds:
- February 14, 2023: Raised $19 million from Dragonfly Capital, Placeholder
- April 9, 2024: Raised $225 million from Paradigm, Electric Capital, and Greenoaks Capital
- May 22, 2024: Announced investment from OKX Ventures, though the specific amount was not disclosed
